Scented Soy Candles The Slow Burner

Scented candles can come in all shapes, sizes, colors and smells. Only relatively recently have we been able to say that candles come in petroleum, paraffin, and soy wax.

Upon further research, I found that we can all make a positive, environmentally aware step by buying and burning scented soy candles within our home too.

A Candle Made From A Soy Bean?

Yes, indeed!  Scented soy candles are 100% natural and made from vegetable based materials. Soybeans create the wax that is used to make the candles. This little bean can go a long way and serves our country in more ways than you can imagine; the newspaper that we read every day is even printed with soy-based ink!

The soy bean was created in China over 5,000 years ago and entered the US serving as ballast for visiting Chinese ships. Little did anyone know that this bean would become an environmentally friendly provider for many of our industries.

Environmentally Aware Burning

By replacing my aromatherapy candles with aromatherapy soy candles in my home, I believe that I have taken part in promoting conservationism. Soy beans that are used in candles, like the Soular Therapy candles that All scented candles offer, are all grown in the USA and emit no soot or toxins into the atmosphere – unlike their traditional paraffin or petroleum wax counterparts.

How Does A Soy Candle Differ From A Normal Candle?

I took one scented soy candle and one normal scented candle and burnt them both in my house over the course of a week to see whether I would be able to note any differences in their performance.

The soy candle I used was the Beanpod Soy Candle in a ‘Fresh Linen’ scent. The main difference I noticed was that the soy candle burnt for a considerably longer time than the petroleum-based candle, and it also emitted a fresh and fragrant smell that presided over its counterpart. I felt like it was the lovely outcome of wash day, every day!

I also discovered that a candle made from a soy bean can come in as much of a vibrant hue as typical scented jar candles; this is done by adding a typical natural dye. Obviously, my Fresh Linen pick was for a fresh scent over a vibrant hue, but it definitely displayed some advantages over the petroleum-based candle.

Soular Therapy also provide aromatherapy soy candles in their range, so if you are looking for a blend of essential oils to enhance your mood, you can still do it with a soy wax candle.

Going Green?  Go Beanpod!

Beanpod soy candles are some of the most popular scented candles at the moment. They offer a range of soy candles that come in very tasteful black Hampton jars that would look beautiful in any living space.

Their candle in ‘Orange Vanilla’ combines the zing of freshly cut oranges with the creamiest vanilla scent you could imagine – making it perfect for a hot summer day. Their lilac scented candle offers a sweet and floral infusion that could put a smile on anybody’s face.  Their plumeria scented candles are very inviting and affirms the flower as a symbol of hospitality.  The amusing Beanpod slogan of ‘Burn A Bean’ is stamped on top of the chic black boxes they are delivered in, and indeed, a Beanpod candle is a great gift for the thinking man or woman of the 21st Century.

The Hampton jar serves as a classic and interesting ornament too. Who would have thought that ‘chic’ and ‘environmentally friendly’ would go hand in hand within the world of candles?

Can I Make My Own?

Of course you can! It’s the same process as making paraffin or petroleum-based candles, but replacing the wax with soy wax. Making soy candles is even considered as easier, as soy wax cleans up with soap and water, and there are no risks when putting your tools in the dishwasher. Soy wax can be bought at any hobby shop or via suppliers on the internet.

Scented jar candles step aside!  Scented soy candles are a symbol of the environmentally conscious future. When you feel like it’s time for a change in your home, why don’t you try a soy candle and see if you notice the difference?   The earth and your senses will thank you.
